Here's How We Got Started
A Vision for Community Empowerment
The journey began with the formation of the Setekimmoi Community-Based Organization (CBO), created to bring together residents from the five wards of Moiben—Sergoit, Tembelio, Kimumu, Meibeki/Karuna, and Moiben. The goal was to build a united community capable of addressing local challenges through collective action.
Recognizing the Financial Gap
As the CBO expanded, it became clear that many members still lacked access to affordable financial services. Existing financial groups did not accommodate everyone, and many funding opportunities required beneficiaries to belong to a registered SACCO. This highlighted the need for a more inclusive financial institution.
Establishing Setekimmoi SACCO
Driven by the vision that every community member should have access to financial opportunities, Setekimmoi SACCO was established in 2016 as a registered Savings and Credit Cooperative Society. The SACCO was founded on the principles of cooperation, accountability, and financial empowerment, providing members with a secure platform to save, access affordable loans, and invest in their future.
Empowering Members Through Financial Services
Since its establishment, the SACCO has continued to transform lives by promoting a culture of saving, providing affordable credit facilities, and offering practical training in areas such as financial management, agribusiness, dairy farming, poultry keeping, and beekeeping. These initiatives have enabled members to improve their income and strengthen their financial independence.
